Rust happens, but not too bad ... I got pics on the "gen 2 brat towing gen 1 brat" post ... I do have a nice set of jump seats and I WAS going to sell them to a local guy, but looks like I might be hanging onto them after all this brat has a set of decient ones that I might sell instead, (they aren't bad just not near mint like my good ones) I'm gonna put the roll bar into my Gen 2 and if anyone is interested in the front brush guard, lemme know ... I will lift this one since it has enough rust in the rear fenders that it needs work anyway, but it's interesting ... it's said to have a JDM 1600 with 60k miles ... clock on the brat is 33k, I'm sure that's 130 or 230 or something .. but I will be the second person to have it titled (the guy I got it from never got around to titling it ... he's too busy to mess with it) the original owner passed away reciently and had it on the road as reciently as 2003 ... it has carb probs but I can fix that ... I will have to get a good EA-81 and 5spd D/R for it so I will be selling the engine/trans if anyone wants them ... they seam to be fine ... he had it running and driving about a week or 2 ago but even with a freash re-build, the carb won't let it go over like 20 mph ... I can do a comp test if anyone is serious ... I will be giving away the wheels and if the subaru wheel covers are colectors, lemme know I will send them free (just ask you pay shipping) otherwise my friend wants to put them on his EA82 I can take pics of them too if anyone wants to see them
75subie
Sounds like you got a nice deal for a fun project:D gen 1`s are few and far between these days, around here they are non existant. how much are you looking to get for the pushbar? my 78 needs one:brow: take care, Jon
FlyB0y
:slobber: MAN!!!! that's one NICE '78!! (admit it ... you just love having a reason to post that pic ... I would! he he) what kinda topper/cover is on it? Honestly, I dunno what they are worth ... what ever the going price is would be fine with me ... won't shipping be a killer tho since your in NY? I have some more pics of it for ya too ... it needs cleaning up, but it's straight If I didn't sell it I would just add a plate to the middle of it once I lifted it ... here's some pics of the bar ... 75subie
please let me know when you decide a price, i want it, but really don`t want to spend a fortune on it. Subieguy offered to give me one a while back, but i haven`t heard from him since. i am willing to pay. for shipping, i heard of someone just wrapping it in bubble wrap or card board and slapping a fed ex label on it. the spoiler on it is made from the front of a high topper cut off by a sawsall, it really looks pretty neat on there giving it a "big rig" look, and it functions to keep the air off people sitting in the jumpseats. LOL!!! I like that! I was thinking you had some kinda fancy tonneau cover or something :-p and no worries on the push-bar, I'm not looking to soak anyone, just wonder what they are going for, I guess if you're not sure I will do some research on what they have gone for in the past, and then give you that price ... and go from there
75subie
sounds good, thanks i am going to pick up a higher performance motor for the brat next week. its out of an FE so it has slightly higher compression, and it also has a weber on it. all this with the electronic disty swap and a high flow exhaust should make the brat pretty quick, it would also be cool to take out the front axle stubs and make it rwd:D can you say BURNOUT:D lol
FlyB0y
hehehe nice! say ... I looked-up some push-bars and the ave price looks to be about $50 for the push bar ... if that works for ya, lemme know and I will find out shipping to your Zip ... btw ... I'm not very farmiliar with this vintage of 'rus yet .. is that motor a variant of a EA-71?
75subie
the motor i am buying is pretty much a standard ea71, BUT it has slightly higher compression. this motor comes from the FE coupe model subaru made in the 70s, FE stood for "fuel efficient" it also has a weber attatched to it, so it should be cool.
