That looks like a gravel spec tire! That's proly the reason for the $$$ I havent run THAT tire before, but I have run the Kuhmos before. They are a good tire for the money, they are no BFGoodrich, but a good tire none the less. That tire looks kick rump roast for Subaru, and it's a 13" no less!!!!

The Kumho site says they make this tire in a hard compound and a soft compound. I don't know which version Tirerack sells, or if you can specify.

Checked out the site, it's listed as a performance rally tire. That's a good price for a rally tire, most are over a $100 each. Probably wouldn't be good for somebody wanting a snow tire that they would run for 3 to 6 months on pavement, probably wouldn't wear well.

I'm looking for a nice ea81 4WD dual-range wagon to drive to trailheads, explore off pavement, and to drive when one of our other vehicles is in for service or for the occasional dump or home-and-garden store run. I'm probably looking at two or three thousand miles a year, tops.

A decent set of 13" snow tires would probably work fine for me. On the other hand I can afford these, they would be nice to have while tearing up gravel roads, and the tread life would not be a big issue for me because it would take me a long time for me to put even 20,000 miles on the car.

If that's the case, get them. They look like a good deal for what your getting, that is, if you want something more than a regular snow tire. I'm going to get something for my rally cross car and those may be perfect.

I think Edrach has experience with this brand.
