has anyone chickened out and just swapped the stubs in the

rear end? the spined bit between the cv and the drum ya know...

i have a wire feed welder, i can install the front diff hanger on the torsion tube.....

so i would rather just swap stubs than go through the whole

suspension exchange, any thoughts?

What are you talking? EA81 or EA82? Makes a huge difference. If you are talking EA81 then no - don't even bother as the 2WD torsion bar is completely different - smaller without the height adjustment. Also the 2WD sits lower by design than the 4WD.

If you are talking EA82, someone else will have to answer, but I have been told by Mudrat that the EA82's aren't any easier than the EA81's.

Personally, unless I had a really good reason, I would NEVER do a 2WD to 4WD conversion again. It's just too much work, and you can get perfectly good 4WD's easy and cheap.

lazy!?!? okokok its true

i just was wondering if an ea82 2wd rear end has removable

stub axels, would allow me to use the original clean and shiny control arms, instead of the rusty donor parts...

if i didnt play with cars, i would have to get a job, or find something else to do.

Im going back under

thanks heaps for the info!

if using the 2wd torsion tube and assuming you willmake a diff hanger, you will have to swap out the lower control arms to use the 4wd spindles.

if its an ea81 car, you can use ea82 rear trailing arms if you trim the bushings and make the mounting holes bigger for the 17mm bolts.

you will also have to make a notch for the brake line. you will see what i am talking about when you put it together!
