I just bought a 2005 Outback XT. When I start the engine it seems to crank slow (like the battery is weak). Anyways, I took it to Subaru and they said that it was fine (checked the battery, not sure what else they checked other than listening to it). Do all Subarus start slow like this? Does it have anything to do with the Turbo engine?

It depends on how slow is slow. I've often noticed that my Subaru starts a little slower than most other cars (specialy the american ones), but it always starts even during the coldest winters. Other cars : v-v-vroumm ; Subaru : gna, gna, gna, gna, vroum. The number of times the engine revs before starting is the same be it summer or winter, it's just a little slower in winter.

Now if you mean slow to fire off instead of slow cranking, there is a reason for this. What sooby is doing is letting the oilpump get the oil circulating before firing off. i have never noticed it, but then again aside from rentals my last 4 cars have been soobies.
