Guest archemitis
what is this tool for? axles just slide right in right?
Guest GeneralDisorder
The tool helps to get it back in. They fit tight, and it's a bit difficult to get them in sometimes. Getting it out is easy - block of wood, and BFH. GD
Guest OH Noah
If you're installing a used (or rebuilt) axle into used bearings, then it will often just slide right in. On the other hand, if you are installing a new axle into new bearings you usually need some help, as it's supposed to be a press fit. I usually use a slide hammer with 3-claw attachment attached to the axle nut.
Guest MilesFox
i'll put the axle on the tranny end, and then tap the knuckle onto the axle before i fit the ball joint. the nut will do the rest my 2 cents (and costs less!)
Guest baccaruda
i usually crawl under and push the axle against the tranny right next to the stub and put a jack stand under it.. then i pound on the hub till i can get the axle over the stub.. i've tried crawling under the whole car and pushing the knuckle, etc out with my feet, and i can get the axle on the stub before i do any pounding, but i'd rather pick up the right tool.. wasn't someone making tools for this out of their shop? Guest chef tim
I built my own. Very simple design, saves alot of time, heart ache, cussing, etc etc. Tim
