i'm just about done ****in with this hatch

Recommended Posts

this piece of **** has royally pissed me off.. i'm bout ready to throw this ****ing car in the ****ing junkyard..

the engine in it has a rod knock. the spare i got has several snapped off bolts that won't come out, i've drilled, and snapped 3 of the eay outs already and not even budged any of the snapped off bolts..

this hatch will prolly end up rotting in my driveway or hittin the scrapper, i don't have the money, or the patience anymore to **** with this thing..

Meek,

At a JY called Sunny's in Culpepper, VA there are several EA81 cars with motors in 'em. Howz about we meet there to pull a motor? I'm free on Mondays & Tuesdays.

Or find one nearer you and pay the JY guy $10 to help you lift it out once you've disconnected everything.

By the way, I work in the same building as Scott (Subarubrat). Purely by chance--we didn't know each other before. I had been to his website many times before I found out he worked here too!

Tom in Centreville (west of DC)

well after breaking 3 drill bits and 2 easy outs, i managed to get 4 holes cleaned out.. these holes are the ones that hold the alternator bracket on the head and block.. there are still 2 more that i couldn't get out, so i'm gonna cross my fingers and hope it works..

i managed to get that lump in the car.. and after gettin it mated to the trans, the friggin mtor mounts wouldn't go in.. (thee were the original ones on the spare engine that came outa a wagon) so after ****in with it for 4 hours, i managed to break a cv axle, bend my pry bar, and trash the tranny mounts.. still didn't get them in.

so i got a wild hair up my rump roast to take'm off, then looked at the ones that came outa the hatch and they were backwards..

is there a difference in how they go on between a wagon and hatch?

so anyways, pulled the ones off my original engine (looked new) flipped them around, popped them on and whala, they fit perfectly.. so its mounted and bolted in now..

tomorrow i gotta switch intake manifolds, hook everything back up, change the oil, filter, get new heater hoses and radiator hoses, and cross my fingers..

really its not worth this much trouble for an engine that (was supposed) to run...

i called Jules, since he is makin a run with trogdor to a yard, he's gonna snatch me somethin while he's there.. he wants my ea82T outa my wagon anyways..

my original engine looked like it was a new shortblock, but the valve springs are shot (lifters float at 1800 rpm's and rattle) and its got a rod knock, so I might pull it apart and rob the pistons and rings, and chuck the rest in the dumpster.. i don't figure this spare engine will run too long, so i gotta get another one to rebuild from scratch, so i can plop it in and get a couple hundred k outa it ..

plus my spare is a pushrod engine, i rather have hydraulic lifters.. just my personal preference

Yeah Meeky, count me in too. My offer to help you pull the engine still stands, as well as meeting up with you guys at the yard to help pull an EA81. That would be a blast.

Also that building next to the office is full of engines and trannys, several Subaru engines in there as well.

I am free this Tuesday as well.
