Those three should make it onto the '73 coupe.I didn't have the heart to take the "Subaru" badge out of the plastic. That'll be done the day the paint is all set, interior done, car running, and a bottle of champagne there ready to celebrate.

Oh the captions you'd like to add to this one!!.......

 Not even twigs 'n seeds left in that one!

Those bags are so cool. There has to be a really cool reason to save them and reuse them.Legal reason, that is.

Last candy for tonight.Be sure to brush before bed.

Thank you, thank you ......hey,why should I be the only one to droll over these? :)

Unfortunately items like those were easy enough for dealers and SOA to make disappear. So,there's probably not many left here in the US.

kiwi-yes,those are all brand new.The stock was found by a fellow board member and the word was shouted in the right direction.Three of us from CT with early 70's Subarus bought the stock which is/was sitting in a barn in PA.We should be retrieving the last of the exhaust and sheetmetal, and a few wheels, etc. tomorrow.

There's parts from 1968 through 1979 but most of it is the early 70's from '71-'76.

It's a small scale "dream come true".The three of us are getting many parts towards our restorations and upkeeps, but there's never everything you need.Still a lot of fun,but being the guy with the parts manuals it's also been a lot of late night hours spent researching and marking parts.

My word... those are precious! Get that car done and show it! We need more people to show in the foreign classes in order for the judges to take these cars seriously. Porches, Jags, Rolls (BTW, I beat a Rolls!!!) were built for the long haul and the price reflected it.

I am making headway with judges to actually look at the BRATS... it's been a tough row to hoe... they usually walk past them and never give them a second thought. Spectators yak for a long time with their stories of their father, uncle, second cousin removed having one when they were young... and I let their kids sit in the jump seats The kids ask where the seatbelts are and I point them out... the parents always take a picture of the kids sitting with huge smiles. Makes it all worthwhile.

As it stands American made is the judges main focus for awards. Sooo, with all your NOS brightwork, I would love to see you take a first! I have gotten 4 trophies in 6 shows... never a first... a "best" once because I was the only ones... still not too shabby.

Not to hi-jack, but, my engine usually blows the inspection. I need a color mix for the air cleaner and some spiffy way to fix up the "ClusterF" of wiring. Any suggestions?

Paul, get that baby done!!! It's awesome!

also not to hijack, but autozone and the like carry that plastic flexible conduit that comes in a bazillion colors (black, red, blue, yellow, I think  )

but that stuff can really clean up an engine bay cluttered with wires

:) Mary,I hear ya,I've been saying the same thing since around 1999.A couple of you have resources, funds, and time that I don't so you guys beat me to it.Otherwise you can still see my original, entirely roadworthy '78 unrestored, which in itself is an accomplishment. That car gets a huge amount of compliments these days, after years of being looked down at and smirked at.Got lots of compliments at Carlisle!

The coupe should be done first, and done just about as close to original as anybody can make it.

im could do with some of the extria stuff like badges and crommed plastic bits for my GL1400 coupe when i start fixing it up hopefully wont be to long in the near future?

Sorry my friend, there's no extras of the GL badge.Take the photo of mine and clean yours up and match the colors as best as you can.We found one of those badges in Vermont a few years ago (also NEW stock)but I think Scott K bought it just for eye candy. He doesn't own a GL1400.I'll see if I can get in touch with him but he's not returned calls or emails for a while now.

Hey guys, doesn't this make you want to go ask your dealers about old parts laying around???:brow:

Shake 'em out now if they still exist.Otherwise they'll hit the dumpster, per order of SOA.....if we're lucky they put them on eBay,like Center Subaru did for awhile.I wonder if SOA put the screws to them for selling so much old stock.I don't see them pushing anything really old anymore.

It's not so much the funds, as time... the parts are cheap. Many, many, hours of very dirty work is required to restore these cars.

I sympathize with you, having a young family is difficult enough with just finding the time for the wife and kids. I was a single mother and I could never have done this when my daughter was little, cheap parts or not. Been there, done that. Fortunately, I'm old now and share a common interest with Tim, my other "half". We make a great team.

I have hit all the old shops... independents... the same old story... we just junked all the old parts last <insert date here... month, week, yesterday>... uh huh. SOA of NE already abandoned them years ago... so no dice in this neck of the woods.

One of these days we all need to see who's contacted which dealerships and specialty shops and then move in on those we haven't checked yet.

This one above struck me.

What stinks is that Charlie is getting a HEAP of incredible ff-1 parts and should I ever finally get the one from Washington I'm going to be hacking out parts restorations. But good for Charlie. He's the man here in CT.He says his 1971 ff-1 wagon resto. is probably about 5 years down the road.Oldest running non 360 in CT Next oldest is Andrew's '73 wagon.
