OK, I know this is expensive (but not as expensive as shipping wheels from down under), but I thought I would put it out there FWIW in case anyone is willing to pay $60 to $70 per wheel for 15x6 or 15x7 4x140s. Check out http://www.stocktonwheel.com

I just got off the phone with them. They said I could have those sizes for those prices. You could probably also get 14s or 16s made. They come powder coated in black, white or silver.

I won't be buying any. Too $pendy for me...

You guys bitch too much about prices sometimes...

60 bucks aint bad at all considering new 18's for an import racer are 200/ea but....

we are talking about "offroad modifications" here... to bend a rim at that price would really suck.

Ill stick with the rims i got and my math.

Im sure between Edrach and SubaruJunkie they can offer better prices for the pugs?

Make that five times. If you're offroading you'll most likely need that spare. Those prices seem much cheaper than when I checked with Stockton Wheel years ago. I'd swear they quoted me more like $100 per wheel. That's cool though, I'm sure somebody will go for it.

In reply to all the questions--Click on the link in my initial post to go to Stockton Wheel's webpage and then click on the buttons for the different styles under the "Online Catalog" heading. There are tons of options. For offset information, see the "Ordering Guide" button under the "How to Order" heading.

I just told the guy who answered the phone I wanted 15" 4x140s for a Subaru modified for off-road use and asked him for a ballpark range. He said $60 to $70--probably for plain vanilla steelies.

As far as cost goes, I just thought $300 to $350 for a set of five wheels is a lot for cars that cost $0 to $1,500.

P.S. You have to call for prices. They aren't on the website.

If I decided to spring for these, what offset should I order? Here are my thoughts:

IIRC stock Subaru wheels have around a +42mm (~1.65") offset. IIRC, Pugs are around 22mm, right?

Stockton Wheels order form asks you for the backside measurement.

Assuming I bought 15" x 6" wheels, the stock +1.65" offset would equate to a 4.65" backside.

Assuming I bought 15" x 7" wheels, the stock +1.65" offset would equate to a 5.15" backside.

I can also just measure the offset per the illustration on the order form, but how do I account for 26" to 27" tires to make sure they clear the struts and that the fronts don't rub when I turn?

BTW I like these military style wheels:

huumersm.gif

The caption says "A-TEN-HUT!! Listen up recruits! If you drive a "war-wagon" or just drive like you're in a war, these custom heavy duty "military" style wheels will put you at the front of the squadron! It doesn't matter if you drive a 3/4-ton or 1-ton vehicle (2WD or 4WD), Deuce-and-an-half, M37, or a M715, Stockton Wheel Service can build your custom wheels in 15, 16, 16.5, 17, 19.5, 20, 22.5, 24.5-inch sizes with any bolt circle, any offset, or any width, painted or chromed!"

Do you have these links?

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/tire.html

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I don't know if they'll help, but there nice tools if you don't already have 'em.

If pugs only have a 22mm offset, that opens up alot more choices that would fit my car. Good deal. Thanks for the info.:D

Stockton Quoted me $90/ for a 12" X 8.5" with a 4X140 pattern.

Ouch!

We need to band together and get one company to make them and get a better rate.

Trudesign Wheel Inc. in Colorado Quoted me less on the same wheel (powder coated).

For what it's worth,

82 Hatch, well it use to be......:temper:

01 Forester, still is............. :burnout:

I haven't got a response yet for the 15's pictured above. On the phone they said I could have 15x6s or 15x7s for the $60 to $70 quoted in the subject. I don't know which wheels they were referring to, though. The ones pictured are the only one in the catalog that say "any bolt circle..."

So are you saying a 5.25" back side is the limit?

Wouldn't bigger tires reduce that? At the lock, the edge of a 27" tire will be farther in on the inside and farther out on the outside than the stock 22" tire.

What is the offset on the six-lug Chevy wheels people drill extra holes in to use on our cars?

The drilled Chevy six-lugs that came with my car fit OK. I suppose I could use the same offset/back side measurement. They only stick out of the wheel well about an inch. If I went with a smaller tire, I could probably increase the offset/backside measurement by an inch to keep the tire in the wheel well.

I don't know what the first guy I talked to was smokin' but the salesperson I spoke with today said the Hummer & Power Wagon wheels are the only ones available in 4x140 and they are $155 each plus shipping  The only other option is to cut the center out of a Subaru or Peugeot wheel and weld it into a larger or wider wheel. He said he had one customer who did that.
