EA-81 Oil Bucket?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys I said I would report back.

Ram supplied new pistons valves seats springs etc, and the engine was re bored and assembled.

It sounds very sweet now………..But……………… the oil pressure is off the clock!!

On tick over it reads 4 Bar, but as soon as you rev it the pressure goes to 10 Bar and starts to leak oil from the crank seal.

Any Info would be great as now I am desperate!!!!

Regards Paul

20/50 is some serious oil, and until it gets to running temperature will generate pressures in excess of 10 bar, particularly when you add in the extra plumbing of a dry sump system. Does it remain that high after the engine has been running to operating temp? Is that even possible on the ground? ... yeah, I'm not an airplane guy.

Chip,

The dry sump sysytem is a relative unknown here.

We for the most part are guessing.

Could the bypass passage from the oil pump pressure regulator be blocked somehow?

I would like to know what brand name the system is and

who plumbed it?

Maybe a description of the system, as I have a custom install that may require this.

BTW

I run 20w/ 50 in all my Subarus (about a dozen)

but my VDC H6

I have never blown a seal.when the PVC system was

functional. Sounds like you have covered that base.

A Porsche board may be a better solution.

Hi Skip thanks for the responce as you know, it gets frustrating when everything you do ends in oil everywere!

I will take some photos of installation today and send to help understand.

The oil pump is part of the engine.

Regards Paul

P.S. have hopfuly sent this to you as PM also.
