i am currently contemplating putting an ej22 into my 55 willys.i have been looking at weights, torque and horsepower ratings and i am wondering if they will even each other out.the 137hp,137@3400rpm... legacy ....opposed to

105 hp,190@1400..willys.....the weight of the vehicles, believe it or not ,only has a difference of 500 pounds or so.whatcha thinkin?

I'VE GOT TO SAY I'M WITH ANDY ON THIS ONE! Oh, you can hear me now?

Anyways, that's the hawtness, but you probably want good ol' screw-type charger to keep that low-end torque.

Speaking of which, 190@1400? Wow, you might want to consider a VW TDI to keep in that range. I read in Grassroots Motorsports that a guy has one in his New Beetle putting 120ish HP and 400+ ft-lbs to the ground! That would be sweet in the Willy's.

What are the torque numbers (and when does the peak torque happen). In a jeep torque can be more important then HP.

those are the only ratings i could find.my search skills suck, but finnding info on a motor that is as old as the original, has proven to be harder than i thought.the torque numbers are as stated above .

the gearing is in the willys is 4.88.so technically it should push it. the torque ratio is more of what i am looking at.how can i get more low end torque from the ej?at the weight difference they have, pulling the 6 and going to the ej should even out the weight pretty much.i mean ,what am i not understanding about the torque issues?can someone please educate me for ************ 's sake

already thought about it. i have an extra ej sitting around as to why i have inquired.if i have to spend that kind of money i will just get a diesel.the stock drivetrain is rather weak.once again, how do you torque it up.....?

my goal is to keep everything stock accept the engine, tranny and transfer case.
