97 OB Brake pad suggestions/warnings...

Any suggestions on what to buy and what to avoid? Sucks my rotors appear to have been cut a few times before and I am not sure I can get them cut again without running out of spec so it might be just pads right now but I need to do them this weekend.

No tricks for the front pads, I assume straight forward just like other discs?

We go 90k out of the OEM brakes that came on our car. The brakes I replaced those with lasted about 30k. OEMs are going back on.

99 o.b.w. is right O.E.M. pads are good, however as a fourteen year rural mail carrier, I can also tell you the semi metallic (Albany) from auto zone are great pad's, and if you wear them out just take them back and they will give you new one's. ( If you don't use your vechice for commerical work.) As for as rotors, I replace them when I put second set of pad's on. If you cut them twice they warp real easy, especially when they go through the abuse of around 500 stop's a day. I have not found any after market brake shoes as good as O.E.M. most of the after market shoes that I have tried will crack under the high heat of 500 stop's a day.

I would strongly recommend Mintex standard pads - "Red Box". They perform far better than OEM in terms of bite and fade resistance. In fact, I find that OEM pads reach a maximum brake power and then don't react to further pedal pressure. Mintex pads keep braking harder if you press harder on the pedal.

Yes, yes, what about wear?? Well, on my slotted discs they last between 20-25K miles, but you can expect twice that on OEM discs.

But honestly, I don't really care about wear on my brakes and tyres: I want grip and braking power, and I don't pinch pennies on my own safety.

Unless, we're talking Yokohama, which wear REALLY quick :P
