SubaruRichie
I just replaced the oil pump, oil pump seals, crank and cam seals and timing belts on my 88 XT. The car has 194,000 miles on it. I have had it for 3 years now and I finally decided to do some real work on it. When I got it the car never had oil pressure and it had that typical lifter noise. After changing the oil pump and the other parts it seems to run much better. No more lifter noise. Just no oil pressure still. Could it be the sending unit? Or maybe the gauge itself in the dash. The sending unit appears to be the original unit. Can anyone help me out here. Thanks.
MilesFox
is the little yellow wire connected? you can always get a mechanical gauge for about 10-15 bucks, your most sure bet with accuracy. sometimes the stock gauge can go out of whack
Dennis ex24
if its not tapping - you have oil pressure. id look into the gauge if i were you.
SubaruRichie
Guess I will try and change the sending unit. If it don't work I guess it's the gauge. If I need another one I can get one out of my other XT at the junk yard. At least I know it worked. And no, the engine now runs smooth and quiet. Even feels like it has a little more pep in it too. Thanks for the input guys.
