It was a great experience my several meetings with this gentleman. And like I posted , his wife backed up his statements.
One hatchback - over 1 million miles and he said up to 450k still had all original components associated with the engine.
He would not allow me to contact Subaru on his behalf. He was not a Subaru fanatic only. He had a few vehicles of much interest.
I hope he is still going strong. I've had a few thoughts about the guy recently. Usually that means I'll see his obituary or sometimes I run into that person. He's got to in his 90's now.

277,00 on an '88 gl wagon. Biggest problem was multiple timing belt changes. (and 2 deer hits)

1983 GL Wagon 371,000+ miles and still going strong!
1999 Impreza outback sport 175,000
2011 STI 116,000
They aren't exact but they are all right around there!

Since I haven been on since the last time It was bumped...
90 Loyale 4wd
First owner was drove the car will she was 82. Maintained amazing
Second owner did timing belts and put 9k miles on it. Bought a new car
I got it non-running. Fixed and and as of last week it rolled 400k

My pink Loyale has 268K original miles and a unicorn hood ornament. Still running as strong (weak) as when I got it at 114K!
Hoping for another 260K…

My red 1986 GL wagon has 343K, original engine and still runs great!
I bought at an abandoned vehicle auction in 1996 for $600, but I had to have the automatic transmission rebuilt.
