I just saw a 1990 Subaru Justy for sale in Detroit metro Craigslist for $600 OBO. It appears the ECVT (transmission) is shot. What is this really worth? I assume you'd have to do a manual trans swap, right? Is that possible? Are there transmissions available to make the swap? Cost? Car is said to be in great shape otherwise. 70K miles.
Thanks,
Brian

I seen that ad also, and the price seems extremely high for a pretty rare (in these parts anyhow) car that needs some MAJOR repair. Maybe you could offer to haul it away for free?

unless you really want a justy or are willing to ship a tranny from somewhere else... i'd pass.

Thanks guys. You're right, I'll pass. I had no particular interest in a Justy, but was wondering if it was a good enough deal to pursue. Hopefully, it's a "good fit" for someone else.

you can always offer less, keep contact with them and often you'll get the car for next to nothing. it's very difficult to move an undesirable vehicle that doesn't run, they will not sell it and if they do it will be for less than that.
