OK - I'm a noob and maybe a little lazy, so, let me display my ignorance by asking some dumb questions;

OBS - is this Impreza Outback Sport wagon?
is there such an animal as Outback Sedan?

What is an Impreza L wagon? in what way would it differ from the the Imp. Outback wagon?

What is a TS Sport wagon?

In general, I am slowly shopping for an Impreza sized wagon, probably MYs '98-'01, so what are they? what are they called?, how do they differ? I've read that RS (Impreza 2 door coupe?) mods will fit the Imp. Outback wagon. Does that mean the exhaust is the same length/shape? I know the wagon has drum brakes in the rear, are the front brakes the same as the RS?
Was there a four door Imp. sedan in those MYs and does it share any frequently modded components with the wagon? I've read the rear suspension is taller than the coupes but what about anti-sway bars? Are they the same?
tia

OBS stands for OutBackSport, so yes an Imp Outback...

There is an Outback Sedan, but it's a Legacy Outback, there is no Imp Outback sedan...

An Impreza L Wagon was the base Impreza (except the Brighton) through 01. The only nonturbo Imprezas now are the RS Sedan, TS wagon, and OBS... The RS Sedan and TS wagon have the same setup, except the TS used to have rear drums in 02-03, now all 04 Imprezas have discs in the rear...

The OBS differs from other Imprezas by the two-tone paint scheme, the different front grill, different wheels, a different interior, and the major difference, a slightly raised and more "off-roady" suspension. Those are the only differences.

Thanx!
Even though the OBS (as confirmed by your post - thanx) has more 'off-roady suspension' would it use the same rear antisway bar as the other Imprezas from that MY series? How about a rear strut tower brace? Sounds like the wheelbase is the same so I guess exhaust is the same as other Imprezas?
thanx again

Hi Lucky Texan,
I am also in the dark about models.
I am drivin my new Japanese import 94 Legacy, which has the TS type R badge. I am finding it almost impossible to get info on this model, but have been led to believe that the TS means Touring Sport ( with sports suspension) . If you find a source of legacy models and meaqnings to badges, Please let me know.
Cheers
John

Even if some parts are slightly different, that shouldn't prevent you from upgrading with suspension mods. The suspensions aren't so different as to prevent that... Exhaust systems should be the same too...

Best bet IMO would be to look at www.mrtperformance.com, as they have all kinds of suspension upgrades for all kinds of Subies... Be forewarned though, they're not the fastest people down under :brolleye:

Urabus, I don't know so much about the grey import models, but typically with Subies, the RS is the sedan and the GT is the wagon, as Legacies go. However, TS would make sense because the Impreza TS here is the wagon...

where I saw some Japanese market subies I have not seen before.
If there are any Kiwis on the board they may be able to help.
A magazine article I read says that Kiwi has so many different models because they accept all major auto standards.
European, US, Japanese, and Austrailian.
