I suppose you have checked the belt for slippage and fluid level? I once looked at fluid level and was fooled in that I was still able to add plenty! Check owner's manual for specs as my 90 Loyale PS uses Dextron II or III. Top off that reservoir as a first step. Let us know when it's safe for the rest of us to be back on the road.
