the_bard
Next summer I'm probably going to end up slapping a 3" Ozzified lift on that Subaru Wagon that I keep dreaming/talking about getting, then throwing a set of 27" tires on it. When I do that, it throws off the original speedometer, due to the final gearing being different. There are aftermarket programmable speedometers out there (googling for cost, right now...), and I've got a few questions about them, that I can't seem to find anywhere else... 1. This programmable business... looks like they come in two types... either flip a set of dip switches for the proper gearing (which I assume means you have to do some manual "figuring" to get the proper gearing), or a measured mile (hit a button, drive a measured mile, hit the button again, it figures out how long it took you to get there, and it does the calculating for you). Any suggestions either way? 2. Some of 'em include an odometer... can you set this initially (so I don't end up having to add two diferent odometers to get the correct mileage)? This ties in with the next question... 3. Do I have to mount the new speedo outside of the dash, or can I replace the original? Thanks y'all ;D
