All Legacy Wagons (Sedans too?) new and old use 6.5" speakers in all four locations.

What kind of rear speakers do you mean? Main or subwoofer? I think your Brighton had four speakers from the factory?

The rear main speakers will be either in the rear doors or on the top of the shock towers in the cargo are.

i may be wrong but in my 97 legacy lsi i think it is possible to put 4x8's in the back. there are 2 mounting holes: the ones there the 6 1/2's are and in the middle there are 2 square holes. if this is rite and anyone trys it please report back if you find speakers that sound good becuase the stock are terrible and after new fronts i may be putting in new backs.

Hope this helps and i wish Subaru would just put in speakers not paper and a magnet in the future.

well crap, their utility doesn't list the Brighton as an option, though I would think it is the same as a standard Legacy wagon. Also, the utility doesn't list speaker depth - just speaker brand/model recommendations. The catalogs I use to get in the mail use to have several pages of car listings with detail size/fit requirements, but I guess the online util doesn't offer it....

Sorry.

Paul
