new plugs and wires and now my 93 legacy whines

Ok, so I was cheap and the nearest store was Autozone, got 4 Bosch Super plugs and a 21 dollar set of lifetime plug wires. The wires seem good quality, silicone , nice boots ets. now i get an ignition "whine" WITH THE RADIO OFF!!!!! varies with rpm and you can only hear it in the car (speakers?) not under the hood etc. Question: before i replace anything, is it the wires (junk?) or the plugs (I assume they are resister). Anyone ever have this happen to them/ thanks

If this happened after repair , I would suspect those mickey mouse wires from twilight zone . Put down some cash & get OEM . :D

get rid of the wires and plugs. Bosch stuff works fine on german cars, bosch plugs don't seem to run the best on subie engines.

Get yourself some NGK 7mm wires, and NGK copper plugs.

Or if you got the money, get some magnecor 8.5mm wires.

Josh! I run Bosch plugs and they work fine. Better than Champion and NGK. My EJ22 is Euro spec, so maybe that makes a difference.

However, I did try the Bosch "Super-4" plugs with four electrodes and they are definitely not compatible with the Sube's direct ignition system. Essentially because the spark gap is too small - and not adjustable :(

hmm,

that's interesting. I've run the normal NGK's, had the old 3-electrode plug. Don't remember if it was NGK or bosch (sorta think it was NGK). I've tried the bosch platinums, & the platinum +4's.

Plain NGK copper's seem to work the best......
