ShawnW
I installed an 84 4wd Auto Wagon EA81 engine and intake manifold into an 83 2wd Auto car and I can't seem to get it to run right. I believe it mostly has to do with the vac modulator. So my question is this. Has anybody here put a Weber carb on an automatic trans equipped car and if so what does the Vac Modulator on the side of the trans want for vac?? I may have to put the intake and carb back on the motor but its 250 miles away right now and would have to be shipped to me so if I can avoid that, great. I have tried running it with and without the ECU plugged in with about the same results/symptoms.

Meeky Moose
not sure on a soob automatic, but on the big ford the vacuum line runs from the intake manifold to the vacuum modulator on the trans..
ShawnW
Thanks Meeky.... I think I am making it too complicated so I am going to try again after work with running a direct line from the intake to the vac modulator and plugging other things. GeneralDisorder
Ok - I can tell you that you can forget the ECU - plugged in or not it won't matter with a weber. Should run fine either way. Mine's not even in the car anymore. 2nd - I just can't see how the vac modulator could cause it to run incorrectly. Obviously it won't drive without it, but have you tried disconnecting it completely to see if the engine runs better. Sounds like maybe a vacuum leak to me. If it ran with the hitachi, then it should run with the weber - just need to get it tuned right, and make sure there's no vac leaks. Meeky Moose
ohh another thing, i do know by lookin at my hatch with a weber... the vacuum advance on the distributor hooks straight to the carb.. that will make it run funky if not hooked up cause the disty won't have the correct vacuum.. and yes plug all teh vacuum ports that aren't hooked to anything.. thats a given right
