Guest wanderance
I have a 2003 Forester XS Premium, have had the car for about a year. I noticed after a couple months the black coating on the muffler started to come off. I have noticed this on other Foresters I see driving around. While it is no big deal, it really bugs me for some reason. Did Subaru just goof on the paint / coating they put on the muffler? Are there any fixes out there? I was considering getting some high temp black paint and just painting up, but not sure if it would stick to the metal (not sure what kind of metal it is) of the muffler. Guest Legacy777
They black stuff on the muffler was probably undercoating of some kind, and while it does help the under tray of the body with rust prevention, it probably doesn't last too well on the exhaust. Your high temp black paint should be fine to do.
