You can do it in a day if you have an engine lift. EJ22's are cheap, plentiful, and easy to swap. I wouldn't use the dealer if you like your wallet. Cloud of black smoke? not blue? It woke up and said that it's heart (engine) is still beating strong, it just needs a new water pump and timing belt! It only has 34k miles on it and the body and paint are showroom quality. this thing was too great of a find to offroad. don't worry, once i start making money and buy a house with in-ground lifts in the garage, i'll fashion myself up some 8" lift blocks and stuff a new tribeca engine into an sxv. my Subaru offroading days aren't over, they're just on hold.
