do hydro lifters go hand in hand with big valve heads?
i have an 84 motor with solid lifters, does that mean i have the small valves?

i've been sifting all day long...

I believe all hydro lifter ea81 motors have the large valve heads.(At least all of the ones I have seen do.)
I know that some solid lifter motors from around '83 1/2 to '84 started to come with the larger valve heads. I have heard that some even back in '82 could have come with the larger ones but that I don't know for sure.

All 83+ engines were large-valve. Solid or Hydro - doesn't matter.

Just to ad to this incase one finds an engine that's no longer in a vehicle;
Angled corner on valve cover = large valve.
All corners rounded = small valve.

Has anybody got a photo that illustrates this? I know this is a rule for 1600/1800 identification that for the most part works but maybe not on the later 1600 (84 and newer)
