Rossta86
Does anyone know if worn transmission mounts could cause a shimmy in the steering wheel around 50 to 60 but then stops after 60? How much play do your mounts have, i can grab my trans under the car and shake the tranny back and forth a good at least a half inch to each side, posibly more. Thanks
torxxx
you have some play in the rubber bushings on the mounts.. I've slammed down my tranny pretty hard racing people in my 86. I'd say anything more then 3/4 inches of play underpower would be bad.
northguy
Iassume you're talking about this in your brat (as seen in the sig. block). Is it just the steering? The shaking at those speeds and then the disappearance sounds more like u - joints or possibly c v joints. If it is just steering, that would be more likely associated with wheel balance or alignment problems.
