91 Legacy information -help needed

I have a 91 Legacy AWD wagon. Does anyone know if the rear bench can be flipped forward so that when you drop the seat backs the whole bed is level? I sorta think my old 85 GL used to do that but I can't find a release to allow the bench to tip forward. Is that because it doesn't? or because the release is hidden? TIA Lorry

There may be a pull handle that got buried under the seat. Fish around at the point where the back meets the bottom cushion with your finger to find it.

The pull loop is in the center of the rear seat and down in the corner between the seat cushion and seatback. Long, pre-hensile fingers should be able to fish it out. Then there is a button release at each seatback that should allow you to drop it forward.

I don't have long prehensile fingers, I got little short fat ones. I've poked around but can't seem to find the strap. Are you sure it exists?

You guys sure the bottom cushion folds up like on the 80's subies?

I know on the sedans with fold down seats, the bottom cushion doesn't fold up.

lorry,

You can look at the cushion itself. Look at the front part of the cushion where it meets the bottom portion of the car (bad explanation I know.) Look and see if you see hinges of some kind. If you just see a loop that comes down with a bolt through it, the bottom cushion does not fold at all.

I've got the same car, the seat definitely folds forward. If the pull-strap is gone the clip that it pulls should still be there. I've had to grab that a few times when the strap fell into the crack. Just jam your hand in and dig around. If you can't do it get someone with smaller hands to give it a try. The clip pulls up towards the ceiling.

Eureka - USMB strikes again... thanks for the help, found the strap (only cost me a little bit of skin), after I took the rear seat headrests off the seats folder flatter than a pancake. Packing the car for a road trip will be sooo much easier........ Off to the left coast with my bride! (First road trip sans enfant in 18 years) Yahoooo

Take Care.........Lorry
