ulpholstery cleaning methods?

My seat fabric has become full of a kind of fine dusty clayish dirt, the vacuum got some of it, but does anyone else have a method of getting this stuff out? Any good products to try? It's dry and not really "ground in" so I figure it shouldn't be too much of a struggle.

Compressed air and a dry stiff brush will loosen more of it up so you can vacuum it up.

a carpet cleaner with the little apholstery (sp?) attachment on it should work

 

or you could redneck it and break the pressure washer out:banana:

Use an old stiff tooth brush to loosen the dirt and a powerful shop vac to pull it out of the fibers.

If you have the time on your hands, a stiff toothbrush and some aerosol upholstery cleaner should solve the problem. I use Bissell spray-on upholstery and foaming carpet cleaners (2 different products), available wherever Bissell vacuum cleaners are sold. If you want to speed things up a bit, you could try a stiff nylon brush on a paint buffer at low speed.

oxi-clean...but its a very long process. Drenched seats with oxi-clean, then scrubed and let dry for about 6 months (no SH*T). Eventually the dirt turn to dust & I was able to dry brush it out. My seats were severly mildewed when I purchased car, now they look half decent.
