Meeky Moose
if i had the $$ to start my own shop / carlot i would do it in a heartbeat.. could undercut all these shops around here on labor and still make a killin..
Turbone
Thats the main reason alot of (ignorant) Subaru owners park em and forget em when they blow a HG. Most (ignorant) mechanics dont want to mess with it, so they qoute an outrageous price. If it wasnt for this situation, we wouldnt be finding cheap Soobs in peoples yards and fields. 86subaru
that is the price around here ,but for both sides 1200-1500 bucks , if they can do it , and usually 2 weeks to get to it

mdjdc
hey Meekey: I live in Richmond and would be glad to help you replace that gasket. It would be best to do both while the engine is out of the car and there is a parts shop here in Richmond that sels a gasket set for about 135.00 if I remember correctly. it might be less, but it includes all of the gaskets from the heads on out. GLCraig
The subie shop I use to work at would charge about that much to do both sides and a T-belt, water pump oilpump seals and cam seals, plus they only use OEM parts. Now that was about 7 years ago, I know their labor rate has gone up by about $15 - $20 an hour and we know that the cost of parts has gone up too.
