what it does: shows 1/2 of actual fuel level

what I did: took out both senders many times, the contacts were cleaned, the wiper wire(spring) is intact and complete. all connections cleaned and are making contact. What do I do? I have a single sender from a 2wd, will that work? AND sometimes it shows empty before SLOWLY drifting back to the 1/2 acual reading/ ALSO I changed the low gas level bulb and it still never lights up. I have lived with this for 200,000 miles I just would rather the thing be more stable. HELP & thanks

Since you have checked the senders and found no problem then you may want to check the gauge. It may have a problem. I think there is a voltage regulator in the circuit also that could be a problem. I would get a service manual to help with problem.
