1984 BRAT... what tells the fuel pump to "RUN" and not just "PRIME"?

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

Im sure this has been covered SOMEWHERE before, but can anyone enlighten me as to what tells the factory fuel pump on a 1984 Brat to pump fuel *all* the time?

I turn the key *on* and the pump cycles for a second (primes) ... then shuts off.

(This is for the EJ swapped Brat BTW)

Im just using the factory pump to fill the surge tank under the hood, but its not going into RUN mode for some reason. (the ECU controlled fuel pump works fine... should I just run a parallell relay off that control wire?)

Thanks very much!

ive got the oppersit problem.

ive noticed my brumby fuel pump says on all the time and doesnt prime then slows down or stop etc like how my other old leones did when you 1st switch the key on. would the fuel pump wear out with it running like that? what can i do to get this to run normal?

thanxs:burnout:
