Guest bill rigsby
Thinking of (probably will) get a SVX, I undestand there is a tranny problem, basically they fail. What is the consensus on this problem? Lack of maitenance such as filter/oil change, do they run too hot? If an oil cooler would help, what is the best source, brand, etc.? Guest wrxsubaru
the problem with the svx tranny is that it runs too hot, because of the poor circulation. You pretty much just need to put a tranny cooler on it and it should help/solve the problem. OR you can always swap a 5-speed into it. check http://www.smallcar.com for info on that
Guest ShawnW
That and its practically the same trans used on the legacy, but with a lot more power being put on it. Life of 60-120k miles on average. 92 is the worst, built better after that. But the 92 ones got recalled or something and were rebuilt by Subaru techs with an upgraded parts list, etc.
