Here's last year's summary of the M4s.
"Crushing May Flowers" SCCA National/Divisional RallyCross Hillsboro, OR May 5-6th
This SCCA event makes its first appearance in the Northwest. After traveling to Thunderhill Raceway last year to contest the San Francisco Region's National event (took second in SA driving a bone stock white 2002 Subaru TS wagon behind a prepped STi), the team was eager to compete in a National event closer to home and worked hard to make sure the RallyCross happened. Special thanks to Ben Bradley, Ben Trujillo, the HALES and the TABORS for getting this event off-the-ground and a good success. It was a 2-day format with 2 practice laps and 5 timed laps on Saturday's long course and 4 timed laps on Sunday's shorter course (but combined with a REGIONAL event. THIS LINK will take you to a GPS image of Sunday's course (it goes counter clockwise). Also see a neat satellite image of the field where the events occur CLICK HERE.
30 entrants into the National took to the field on Saturday and found a challenging course with technical and speed elements, but the most fun being an "expanding" slalom and beautiful cambered right turn into the finish straight. Eric Zapareski in a modified Impreza AWD led the field at the end of the day with 5 clean, solid runs. Bill Price in an Audi had top raw times, but was haunted by high cone counts. Andy Howe drove solidly but gathered 2 cones and fell to 5th overnight. After hitting 2 cones himself, Paul battled back to 2nd overall with 2 solid final runs. In a NATIONAL event, all runs are scored (no drops like autocross). Eklund came out of the starting gate strong, trying to make up the 2.2 second deficit to "Zap", but fell further behind after hitting a cone on his second run. It took 2 more heroic laps to make up the time, but Paul moved ahead of Eric and into first overall and first in the Modified AWD class with a 2.3 second margin of victory. Click here to see the complete results both by CLASS and overall.

Yea, I don't know how that happened. I noted the discrepancy between the ORG date and SCCA date back in March and notified ORG. Apparently ORG folded on the date and never updated the calendar until recently. I'm sorry you'll be missing this.Hope you have fun. I certainly planned on being there the 28th and 29th

Not usually wet and muddy; the first event this year was, but the next two were pretty dry. Current weather patterns could have another wet one, but we won't know until it happens. A pleasure to have someone "non local" at the event. Welcome to the great Northwest.Looks like it is going to be a fun event. I will be coming up there to compete and l and look forward to meeting you all. I have never raced on a surface like yours. Is it usually pretty wet and muddy?

Zap, looks like www.scca.com; this from Paul Eklund:Ed. Have you got a link to the page where I can pre-register for the contingency?
Remember at National Qualifier events, there is no limit to the number of runs and none get dropped for scoring. Hopefully we can get 8 on Sat and another 4 on Sunday... Also, there is CONTINGENCY MONEY available from VW, SUBARU, and TEAM DYNAMICS Doesn't look like you need to pre-register for the RALLYCROSS, but you do need to pre-register for CONTINGENCIES (see form on scca.com) and of course be a full SCCA member...
Good luck finding it; I always have trouble navigating around the SCCA website.

The local weather guys say there will be some scattered showers on Saturday and a high around 77; so chances are that it will be on the muggy side. They are predicting 85 for tomorrow so the field will be dried out quit a bit.

Max, a pleasure to meet you out in Hillsboro. You're a fine competitor and a class act. You certainly know how to handle your car and it's a screamer. Sorry we couldn't spend more time with you but I can understand the need to get back on the road heading home to the Denver area. Safe trip home. I hope you signed up for the Subaru contingency stuff.Looks like it is going to be a fun event. I will be coming up there to compete and l and look forward to meeting you all. I have never raced on a surface like yours. Is it usually pretty wet and muddy?
