i have an 87 dl. it has push button 4wd. and lately the 4wd hasn't been engaging. what all could cause this? it used to work all the time.

the system works by using the switch (button) to open a solenoid that lets vacuum move the lever on the transmission.
the first thing I would check is the vacuum lines to that area!

this has been covered a bit and a search will net you more info!
