is the engine thats in the GC8 imprezza the same engine thats in the new WRX STI but without the turbo on it?

From what I've heard, the 2.5L Turbo is an entirely new engine. Not one part the same as the normally aspirated 2.5L that has been around since the mid 90's (so they say). Probably a good thing too!

no it's not the same. The 2.5 liter has only been around since mid 90's. I think 96 or possibly 95
