Mostly stock, except for the few changes I've already done. What I want: A daily driver that can handle "4x4 only" roads. EJ22 swap, once the EA82 gives up the goat Turbo type muffler 4" body lift Drilled 14" wheels with same offset 225/70R14 Liberators or 27/8.5R14 Kuhmo ventures Bumper mounted Hella 500's Rack mounted Hella 5" work lights, front and rear Custom safari basket, maybe bumpers New bucket seats, OB, XT, or anything What I've done: Not much! I've been working on making the soob reliable above all. All tune up stuff done Beck Arnley 180* thermostat 6 months ago Napa premium 190* since other failed Accel Superstock coil Jerry Demoss match ported intake with rebuit weber 32/36 Manual choke cus the auto don't fit Cobra CB Yakima rack and 3' firestick antenna Feel free to suggest anything else or different. The Beast I Drive Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Sounds like a solid plan ya got there, pretty much the same thing Im workin on on a small project of mine, except Ive got a few "durability upgrades" in the works, basically I want mine to be able to take a beating repeatedly, with no love. We shall see how it goes. Yours is a lot nicer than mine, and i had to start with a 3at (swapping to 5spd D/R). The Scooby Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 my first subaru was a twin to yours, i did the same things you got done so far, but it ended up with 4w disk brakes, RX ground FX, exhaust, loud stereo, 8 spoke gold enkei's, XT6 sway bars and impreza seats. good luck with your project. I had all the other parts I need but the car they are in had a single range tranny. Ill post pics of the rig when I finish it, it will be savage, but nothing really earth shattering. just a reliable, abuse taking go anywhere rig with some cool and useful features. They've got a mountain of wheels out back for something like $10/wheel. It'll just take a lot of sortin with a tape measure, but sure I'll end up with mazda's! Right on, I've been up there a bunch of times, Lots of stuff there, Pull a Part in Smokey point would be a good place to get a set too. Same price there. and No so much digging. I like the looks of spare up on the roof, but looks aren't important. (Ask Scott or Jeff...they've seen me!) Then again, the look of a racoon tail on the firestick I think I can do without! SoobieDoo Posted February 16, 2009 Author Share Posted February 16, 2009 Well, I haven't had much time or money to work on the snail. Been spending a lot of both on a Ford. I did do a few things today, though, and best of all...didn't cost me a dime! Disconnected front sway bar on pass. side. I believe from searching around here, that will be same as fully removing it. I'll drive it like that to work for a while, before pulling the whole thing. Still have to do rear's. Finally got a good, used taillight on that I bought here on the board. Cleaned up both sides real well with WD-40, then alcohol. Dap gutter and flashing buytl caulk worked great for a reseal. It's gray, not black, but who's gonna see it!?! Slapped some stickers on. I did have an Edelbrock air cleaner on the Beast for a while, but it wont fit on the Weber cuz I dont have the round filter adaptor... Oh, I learned the hard way that you really want to take the sway bar completely off otherwise it will dangle and get in the way of your steering stuff, and still hinder your flex a bit.
