87 RX quit running

Recommended Posts

I was driving my RX when it just shut off like it was out of gas. Gas was fine, pulled coil wire from cap, cranked, no spark. Got new coil, still no spark. I checked the 2 eng fuses it shows on the fuse panel, fine. I don't know what else to do or check.

Help?

Thanks

Is the rotor turning when you crank it? sounds suspiciously like a broken timing belt. Pull the distributor cap and make sure the rotor is turning.. if its not, make sure the little screw hasn't fallen out of it.. if thats still there.. and it isn't turning, you broke the drivers side timing belt. not the end of the world.. you live in subaru land. lots of people in your area that would probably help you learn how to replace a timing belt.

it would be the driver side, thats the one that turns the disty, just turn the motor over.. if the rotor doesn't turn, the belt is broken

To check the passenger side, just pull a couple of the cover bolts out and either peek in or stick a couple of fingers in there and feel for slack
