I love the stuff... it has its avantages and disadvantages first of all, simple green isnt really designed to be used like those spray cans of engine cleaner.. what its really good for, is A: diluted in a spray bottle it is good for cleaning surfaces like body panels that get everyday dirt and stuff B: it works good for cleaning upholstry, w/ a little spray, and a bit of scrubbing with a rag. C: for using it as a degreaser, its really meant to be used in a wash basin where you can scrub and rinse, or a parts washer... *****however if your looking to clean an engine block covered in crap, or wiping off heavily grease coated areas, this is not really what you want, for that I would recommend something more solvent like.***** Other uses for simple green: household cleaner/degreaser, heavy duty greasy laundry loads, stove cleaner, bbq cleaner, green colored liquid for various mouthwash practical jokes, sidewalk cleaner,GREAT hand cleaner (if you let them soak in a basin), removing sticky surfaces from like peeled masking tape or something, air freshener, furniture spot remover.. Guest Flowmastered87GL Posted August 12, 2003 Share Posted August 12, 2003 Use simple green for the engine COMPARTMENT, use harsher stuff if you have the block sitting in your garage needing to be spotless. That castrol purple stuff... it says dont get it on paint I actually used it on my turbowagon (had to remove grease prints) but I hosed it off RIGHT AWAY with no problems. Guest x silvershad0w x Posted August 12, 2003 Share Posted August 12, 2003 We use the regular Simple Green to clean the insides of the tanks at turn in time - nothing makes it easier than a good ol' squirt bottle of simple green. It kinda stinks in enclosed spaces thou, but they say its 100% biodegradale and safe. I've never tried it diluted before, but I'm sure it would be ok at partial concentration, say like in a pressure washer. Sorry I have never heard of this degreaser that is separate from simple green, I will have to pick some up and try it out - if it anything like the green, its gonna be good stuff. I have tried that stuff, and in my honest opinion, its seems to be exactly the same as regular simple green. I think it might be one of those marketing things they did to expand the industry into kragens and other parts stores, making it look more catchy so people would buy it. still the same price as the regular stuff at OSH tho, so buy it, and if all else you just have a gallon of simple green in a different container.. I think I was reading the labels, and there was one thing they added to it, like a stabilizer or something to keep it from breaking down as easily.. But will remove paint if your not careful.Simple geen works great for grease and everything else and is safe enough to drink I guess.
