Buy my Car back?

Recommended Posts

Guest sirveaux

I'm in the process of settling with my insurance company about my 96 Legacy GT. It has 145k miles on it, in great condition. The collision took out both driver doors, the driver quarter, trunk lid, rear bumper, driver side rocker and a little bit of the B pillar. Everything else on the car is basically good. I know the motor and transmission are strong (even with the miles), it has four good wheels, brand new GR2s, all the interior stuff, glass, etc. So, the question is, would I come out ahead or behind by buying it back and parting it out? Say I had to pay like 1500 to buy it back (I have no idea what it would really be). Any thoughts, opinions?

I would buy it out . Buying it back to repair & drive is not cost effective . You would have to get a salvage title , if available in your state . Then you would have to part with the insurance check to fix it . Then all you have is a totaled , high mileage Subaru with a shiny MAACO paint job . Accept your losses & move on OR buy it back dirt cheap & part out .
