trunk part unknown

Hi all!

What is the name and/or number of the metal bar that holds the trunk cover in vertical position? It just snapped a couple of days ago. Also, does anyone know how to fix it?

Its a gas lift, (forget the actual name) go into Napa and tell them that its broken, they should be able to replace it for you, or order one.

In my '97 there are spring/torsion bars that sort of untwist to hold the trunk open...

Not sure if that is what you mean???

Not sure of the official name either.

Did the bar itself snap? If so, I doubt it can be repaired, other than replacement. Probably something that can be found at a yard.
