93 Honda accord

Recommended Posts

Hi

If you read anything in the main off topic area you may have seen that Im trying to hold my honda together until I get my check and can go shopping for a slightly Used subaru.

I have been been keeping an eye out on a few noises. There was one I couldnt quite figure out. Mostly my fault because I diddnt get it sooner... But the Noise that I thought might have been a wheel bearing on the way out turned out to be the outter tie rod end on the driver side. 33$ and this car is taking my money and my flesh a bit at a time.

At any rate... near as I can tell there wasnt any grease on either of the outer tie rod ends... 8 oil chances and no grease. Damm!

The dammage was unreal. At first glance the rod seemed a bit loose but ok. I knew it was shot because it failed under load. I grasped the base of the shaft and pushed it over and under a bit of pressure it moved nearly 1/8 of an inch. No wonder the car was getting so hard to steer. But this turned out to be one of the best 10 min repairs I have ever done :)
