I live in northwest PA and in the winter have to deal with salt on the road and grit put down by PennDOT. My outback, even though it has no outright cracks, has small "pits" all over my windshield caused by other vehicles throwing the grit. Does anyone know of a way to help "clear up"my windshield as some of these pits are right at eye level and are quite annoying. They are too small for a windshield repair kit. THANKS!

See what your insurance agent says. They might want their policy holders to actually be able to see out of the windshield. One note, I've heard that replacement windshields are even softer glass than the originals (unless you get OEM) and pit even faster.

All insurance companies (to the best of my knowledge) have to cover windshield damage caused by rocks (and don't have the right to jack up the rates). Fix it; if you don't the w-shield will start cracking sooner or later because of vibration.
