stiff brakes 90 Loyale

Recommended Posts

We've been having a cold spell here in the northeast. On the real cold mornings the brakes are real stiff until warmed up. It caught me off guard the first time and I had to basically stand on the brakes to stop the car. All is well after a few stomps and after the car has warmed up. Is this common for you guys in the forever cold region or is this just a case of moisture in some old brake fluid giving me a hard time?

When was the last time you bled/flushed the brake fluid? I noticed some brake stiffness on my 02 when it was -15F until it warmed up, I'm chalking it up to moisture and plan on flushing the fluid when it gets a bit warmer..

99 has a good point to check the slides as well.

My 89 DL <pretty much same as Loyale> wagon does the same thing. Course, i'm pretty sure it's brake fluid hasn't ever been flushed; not many ppl think to do it. Soon as springtime comes, i'm going to do that...

Also, 99obw's got the right idea about the guides. My car's got a rear disc kit on it, so I'll need to check those too.

Good Luck!
