Ice building on windshield removal tip

Recommended Posts

wisecracker answer first-----move further south.

Seriously,it sounds like you've got something blocking the defroster vent. The air coming out is warm right? You may hear air blowing but the flap to shift it to defroster instead of lower or bi-level may be shut.THere's cheapy dash mounted defrosters that might help.Better than having to take the dash out. They go for like $20 if I remember right.Check the vacuum hoses all around for pressure.Good luck

that's funny. i used tohave to dothe same type of thing with y wagn. i had no wiper mtor so i had to use a squeegee when it rained or snowed. let me tell ya, it's a sight to see when i come flying sideways around a corner with one arm flailing about the windshield. got some weird looks from people. i definitely recommend the goggles.

Rip out the glovebox and install a RV size woodstove in it's place. Chimney runs up the outside like a snorkle. Co-driver tends the fire.

Sorry to be a wise-rump roast, but this concept actually crossed my mind last time I had a leaky heater core.

I second the Rain X.. I recently got back from a Montana-Michigan trip and it helped a great deal. The moisture just runs off the windshield and doesnt have a chance to ice up. Just make sure your windshield is PERFECTLY clean before applying, or you may get a few small scratches.

Question....... Will the Rain X work on the inside also??? My bus freezes up when I have the kids on and the guys at the shop are backed up with buses down to get to my defroster.... Vicky

Last time I was down at Wal-Mart, they had some stuff called Fog-X... supposed to work on the inside of the car, to keep the windows from fogging up **. It was sitting right next to the Rain-X, on the same end cap display.

** - Remind me to pick this stuff up in twenty or thirty years when I have teenagers...
