had a low beam bulb go out on the WRX, installed a pair of GE Nighthawk bulbs. fairly easy, right side - just 2 bolts to remove the intake funnel. Left side, one clip to shift the wiper fluid filler tube - it was tight, if I had sausage fingers, probably have to remove the battery.

Been busy. Gutted the interior of the new wagon, so I can get it cleaned better & see if the stains come out.

Removed the radiator & found out that the seal on the drain port was broken. hopefully, this was the reason there was no coolant and not because of an engine issue.

I saved my Subie  :D  :)  :D  :) .

My WRX had a blown head gasket (internal; coolant in combustion chamber), and I had to make a choice.

I decided to fix her, and I am so glad I did! She's no longer going to be my DD, as I have a an XV crosstrek now, but I'm planning on some awesome joy rides on the weekends, and absolutely can't wait!

Took her for a drive this morning and it felt so good. It was confirmation that I did the right thing :)

searched and searched in here for the post on LED conversion for twin light EA81 Brumby.

No findy

Had a moment to try the 3 rows of LED in a quad light size on the outer low beam. Needed to be rigged to work not just plugnplay. I considered too btright and scattered to trust oncoming drivers not to be blinded [but given the test drive later - others LED lights from factory have no regard !)

These work nice in the high beam inner position - plug and play. Just need longer M4 bolts 16mm would do, I got 20mm- [not tapered, so not calling them screws! ]

Yes, LED highbeam light is better - and different .....bit like flouro light different to incandescant in houses.

I would love to try the low beams that run the bottom row and centre LED of middle row once wired correctly and drive towards my car on dark nights, wet dark nights to experience just what they do to oncoming drivers eye !

Would lve to see road hazards before i feel them :(

sourced from China ebay seller

also, as I had to release male terminals from the plug, zapped something :( lost bright low beam when returned to std lights, got that typical low yellow glow often seen in old datsun/Nissans of the 80's. Found i blew the fuse panel fuse for that light.

i could not just rewire led to get low and high work while inner highbeam light connected. To dod would need the wiring mod with extra relays

Kind Regards.

Got my recaro seats installed, finally. Unfortunately they sit too high for my liking. I should of taken more off of the base but i wanted to keep a brace that went across them. Ahh well, they are comfy. Also got tyres on my mag wheels, finally.

Haven't done   it yet but still thinking about engine / driveline upgrade for Brat /Brumby

Phase 1 SOHC N/A EJ22 for simplicity reliabilty non interference and mid range.

matched to an 86/88 RX driveline ie 5MT AWD D/R centre locking diff with rear LSD (unfortunately rare as hens teeth)

but probably won't happen as cost + components difficult too source. etc.

So  probably end up just rebuilding its EA81 and leaving it original. as motor tired using a quart every 600 miles (still runs ok :-) but  hungry

Dreams  are free :P

^ That actually reminds me of the other thing I did recently haha, bought an rx driveline for future use in my wagon. 5speed dual range diff lock, rear lsd.

Cost a fair bit, but hey, they're still printing money.

What Have I Done to my Soobie lately?

Cracked%20Windshield.jpg

Mistakenly, I Cracked the Windshield!  :banghead:

I opened the Hood to check for a Loose battery post connection, without noticing that my Little Daughter, left a small Plastic toy hiding on the opening at the Windshield's base, behind the Hood; so, when I opened the Hood, I heard a loud "CRACK!" sound, and saw that the Hood pressed the plastic toy against the Windshield's base...

Kind Regards.

Nuts. I did something sort of like that years ago. Put a 3/4" id 10 foot piece of pvc Condit diagonally across inside my wagon. Closed the back, No problem. Another trip, I buy a 2" id 10 foot piece. It doesn't bend as Much as the 3/4... looked like it fit and all, but when I closed the back, I cracked the windshield.
