  1. I'll need to check on clearances These arent cheap tires, they are Yokohama's (which I've got on my RX with zero issues) and her travels are mostly freeway She was able to get just one tire on Sat and Les Schwab's installed it. I'm going to be on the look out for some16in or 17in wheels for it I think if I go down in wheels size, finding a tire with more sidewall will be easier to fit
  2. Just checked Discount Tire for sizes etc and the standard Impreza 2.0 uses 16in or 17in wheels with a 205 sidewall. I think this might be a better idea for her. Now I need to find some wheels she'll like
  3. Another update, its been a while. Its running pretty good. Well it was until I messed with the charge pipe clamps. Have a boost leak now and I've already checked the clamps I messed with. But its not smoking like it was, so the rings have sealed. Also adjusted the valves again. From the way it was running before the boost leak, this engine is going to rock! Cant wait to finish breaking it in, then I can do the fuel mods and slap the VF39 turbo on
  4. My wifes Impreza Sport has had 2 Yokohama tires with sidewall punctures. I presume its due to the 225 sidewalls. What I'm wondering and looking for, has anyone installed a tire on this model that has a taller sidewall? She also doenst like the ride or the extra road noise from the tires. With the Sport suspension, I'm not positive a taller tire wouldnt rub somewhere

  7. More work done in the engine bay. Making sheet metal shrouds on the inner fenders to hide wiring and aux parts. The blue stuff is a plastic film that peels off, its brown underneath. The panels will be painted black
  8. Blue tape was to help protect the valve seats, which had been ground along with the new valves. Took many hours to polish those heads, I didn't bother to count them. I did it over the last winter. I can't post pics over my phone, will do so when I get back on the computer
  9. Its been a long time since I posted anything here on my RX. Its been sitting for almost 5yrs after blowing a HG and during that process, it overheated and blew coolant all over my chest and face. So I parked it 5yrs ago, that'll teach it I had another EJ22T sitting on a stand that I was going to build for another project, but I figured I could work on that one while the old engine stayed in the RX. I did pull it earlier this year and pulled the RX out of my storage area so I could have better access for working on stuff that I want to do. The engine is basically done and ready to go in, not sure if I want to drop it in now and drive it (I'm jonesing for boost) but if its sat for this long, I can wait a while longer while I do more upgrades. I used ACL race main bearings, King race rod bearings. Hastings rings, kept the old pistons. PnP the heads. New valves. Killer B oil pan/pickup tube/diffuser. New timing covers with Mitsuboshi timing belt and NSK idlers. OEM waterpump and a aluminum radiator off ebay. Picked up a set of no name headers and wrapped them. 800cc injectors and a ECU from a 95 JDM WRX with ESL Live software to tune the engine. Also have a VF39 turbo, a upgrade from the TD04. Cometic MLS headgaskets. Perrin lightweight crank pulley. And lots of cleaning and polishing. Was watching one of the cars shows one morning and as they were doing their usual sales pitch for sponsors, they had some new paint from duplicolor called Metalcast. Made to go over polished metal. O'Reillys carries and I got a few cans. The intake manifold turned out awesome, but the paint comes off real easy, so be aware (I will install intake after engine is in). Prob missing some stuff, a lot of parts were on the car before this upgrade session. Lets see how many pics I can post
  10. Kind of late to the party here, but thanks for documenting all this for others to pick thru when they attempt a EJ swap. If I had seen this when you were working on it, I would have helped out. Kudos to Bennie for being here and helping you thru some rough spots. Real happy that you are willing to go hard on this and do as much possible to get it back on the road, not many of these left. Pretty sure my build is in here, but it was quite a while ago. I might do a update in the Members Ride section. Have a drool rag ready
