  1. The screw with the gear teeth should be the adjustment screw. If it does nothing, someone turned it too much and broke the plastic gears inside.

  2. Have you checked the front diff oil level? if it's low it could cause this whining noise and it may go away once it's at the correct level. If the front diff is the culprit and become worse, it'll be easier to fit a new transmission in there. If it's a rear diff they're relatively easy - just swap the whole diff I'm hoping for you that it's a wheel bearing or something simple over a transmission swap... Cheers Bennie

  3. Which one to use is a bit of a punt. If the heads are off you could throw in new rings (won't need a hone, there's an article floating around that explains why). I'd also be getting the crank at the point (TDC and BDC) when the crank moves but the pistons barely do the same - then rocking it "back and forth" rotations as vigorously as possible feeling and listening for any bottom end knock. It's not an iron clad method but it's better than nothing and will show up any seriously bad knock. Cheers Bennie

  4. It probably doesn't. Just clean it and reboot it. Aftermarket subaru axles are a waste of time, just clean and reboot the one you have. Change all of them? no way. subaru OEM axles last the life of the vehicle, you might be throwing away great life long axles and installing crap aftermarket that definitely won't last the life of the vehicle consistently. just reboot them when the boots break. Use Subaru OEM boots for longevity. check mounts and make sure the engine/trans aren't rocking too much and stressing the CV boots more. if it's a lifted vehicle it might just go through CV boots quicker.

  5. Thanks for adding that input msmithmmx. I've never tested a circuit board on a map light. I'm a rookie on the whole srs light problem I'm having.

  6. Yes. Just ordered the new map light assembly from Subaru. Just wanted to verify the error code first. My local dealer wanted $140 just to run the codes. Now that I know its error code 26, it seems like a safe bet to buy a new map light assembly.

  7. Just got the MaxiLink Ml629 from Amazon. Yes it does read the srs codes from 2007 Legacy. I got the 26 code number. I have re soldered map light assembly twice. Not quite sure why code 26 is still happening.
