  2. That is 36psi above intake pressue so about 28 at idle.36 not running and 43(36 +7) at full boost.

  3. SPFI,I presume? Fuse 5 powers the ECU both directly and thru the ignition relay.(with some white wires) See pages 52 and 155 of the 2nd EA82 manual here http://jdfinley.com/file-downloads/subaru-manuals/

  5. FYI, the adapter plate with work to fairly easily adapt an EJ engine to an EA transmission. It will not work the other way around. It could be done, but it would require a custom flywheel to take up the extra depth. The 6MT is roughly the same size as the 4EAT transmission. In '87.5, the EA82 transmission tunnel got bigger to accommodate that. It will easily fit in the newer EA82s, it's been done in the early EA82s, but at the very least requires a spacer to lower the transmission in the tunnel (but that's not ideal for driveline angles). It's been done in EA81s, but AFAIK only with tunnel modification. Anything is possible with enough money and fabrication. But far from bolt-on. Also absolutely zero reason for it unless you've done the engine swap (no '80s engine can produce enough power to require the strength), and other driveline modifications.

  6. The EJ 5MT is more narrow than the EA 4EAT. @SuberDave has a 6MT in his EA82 wagon, it's not exactly "bolt in," but it's as close as you can get considering the chassis and transmission were designed about three decades apart.

  7. Yeah, this one just gave me the feeling that I was gonna be in for a lot more work than I'd like right out of the gate. It also had a broken lug nut on one of the front wheels. All in all it felt like the car probably hadn't been well taken care of. I really don't want something I have to drive home and start right in on brake work unless it's just a simple replace the pads job either. Thank you for all the help here! I feel like if I come across another Subaru in my price range I will be able to pretty confidently evaluate it and make a call.

  8. Trans would probably smooth out with a fluid change. those transmissions are awesome for reliability but aren’t the most luxurious machines ever made. It certainly shifted fine when new I’m just saying older Subarus won’t feel refined. Sounds rough. Good eye. You gotta figure when you’re looking for a good deal you’re gonna walk from a few unless you’re lucky.

  10. You don`t need to run your car at boost to check fuel pressure at boost. I use a tire pump and an old subaru check valve to put 7 psi (full boost) on the pressure regulator vacuum line.Fuel pressure should then be 43psi. Volume is important too.For a quick check,I remove the return line and measure the volume. I think a fuel pressure gauge is more important than a boost gauge.I use an onboard oil pressure gauge for fuel pressure

  11. My Ausdm GLTA build date Sept 85 had a pair of solenoids right strut tower. One for green boosting now light in dash, other for over boost injector cut

  13. OBDII is much easier. I have done dozens of each. You will not have a permanent CEL if you do it right. 95/96 are easy. GD

  14. I'm sure you mean fuel temp sensor - the 95/96 doesn't have one. None of the 90's cars have fuel pressure sensors. And for the secondary O2 you just put in a 90 degree spacer for the sensor and weld a bung into the mid pipe. GD

  15. Went with the helicoil. I can't post pics as they're larger than 2mb and I'm on mobile. The other mounting hole was wiped out and used a helicoil on that too. Drilled and tapped nicely but it did put up a bit of a fight. So far so good, it seems to be holding. I've already loaded the car with 5 steel rims + tires and the spare in the trunk without issue but I probably won't load the car up too much. Helicoil seems to be the way to go!
