  1. Problem solved. Looked behind radio/glove box/under steering wheel and never found that relay. Two days ago I replaced the HVAC control panel and in the process unplugged the 4-way flasher button. Didn't remember to plug it back in and that was the problem

  2. Use only Subaru factory o-rings. Go to parts.subaru.com to order them and then pick them up at your local dealership. They’re $2.75 each.

  3. Sorry , I know that wasn’t much help to answer your inquiry. But my open opinion is always going to be that the d-r 5spd rules the road and the trails.

  4. Situation's rather more complicated than that. STBPOIH (Soon to be previous owner, I hope), who is a FOAF, left it there after a failed DIY oil change that resulted in a blown motor. It's been sitting for 14 months because he was severely dispirited by this (and other life events). Why the shop has allowed this is unknown to me. We're talking about my taking it off his hands for scrap price (or not too much more, I also hope), hence the need for the haul. A few possibilities have surfaced since my original post, including some local (to me) guys who may be flatbedding another car up into the neighborhood of where this one is and were otherwise going to deadhead the return. And if that doesn't fly, I just heard from another friend that U-Haul indeed does carry flatbeds up here - total news to me. So it'll get sorted out... So to return to the original suggestion: With some effort I might be able to convince CAA to do it, but I'd be conning them. Sometimes I'm okay with that, but not so much this time.

  6. When did folks start mixing and matching lift heights between the crossmember and strut tops? Back in my day () if your strut mounts were a 4-inch lift, you dropped your crossmember 4 inches. Three inch strut spacers? Three inch crossmember blocks... Seems like a pretty simple concept to me, but all the Forester guys keep asking why they're tearing axle boots. Gee, I wonder why...

  7. that code is related to the VDC system. this 'might' be a troubleshooting guide but, not sure all models are the same; http://www.sucross.com/dtc_c0052_motor_malfunction-4022.html

  8. Proceed by forgetting about everything else until the fuel leak is fixed. There are no vacuum lines back there to hiss. The hiss will be a high pressure fuel spray. YIKES!! You need to get under there and have a look ASAP. If your idle is still too high, there is another vacuum leak. Try adjusting idle speed via the large brass idle speed screw on the throttle body. Service info you seek is in the 2nd ea82 manual here http://jdfinley.com/file-downloads/subaru-manuals/

  10. Why not the cam support o-ring and the distributor cover o-ring? Be very wary of any PCV valve not from Subaru. They eat engines. Sounds pretty normal to me. Not exactly "ultimate". Though at that mileage it might have been smart to just do the HG's. We see them fail around 250k if not sooner. GD

  11. Both cruise and VDC are on because of the check engine light. Is it related to the battery, after a week? Probably not. You should get the codes read, then post them here so we can better help you.
