  1. Looking to upgrade the stock exhaust on a 94 Legacy Turbo, need help and suggestions. I was told that a early model wrx downpipe is a direct bolt on. How bout catback?????
  2. I have a front set of air struts off of a 94 Wagon, that are like new. Less than 1,000 miles on them. A woman bought them brand new from subaru, then sold us her car. You can have both left and right fronts for $300 plus shipping. These babies are over $300 each from the dealer. email me at cow562yanks@sbcglobal.net if interested. I will take Paypal or money order. Thanks, Dan

  4. Subaru dealer gets around $600-$650 to do timing belt, water pump, cam and crank seals. If you lived in CT, we would do it for $400. Find yourself a reliable mechanic if you can.
  5. Im looking to owning an XT6 AWD in very good to mint condition. I have never owned one, but have owned 10 other subarus, including three legacys, and GL's and GLF's. Any info you can tell me about this car
  6. Has anyone ever used a magnetic plug called superplug. www.superplug.com Its the strongest magnetic plug on the market. I have them on all my legacys, and man they sure work. Not cool knowing all that debris is floating around in your engine. Oh well, just my .02
  7. Hi, I have 4 Generation one Legacys, (1990-1994) and three of them are automatic, including my newest addition a mint 1994 Legacy Turbo Wagon. I have been using AMSOIL SYNTHETIC ATF and its been a godsend to say the least. This is the best fluid to use if you want your transmission to last. Go to www.amsoil.com and read up on the products. I use all their products in my Legacys, and my cars have had no problems. Im not sure what the oil capacity is of your 97 legacy, but in my 93 it is 8.8 quarts. You need to do a complete flush, in order to get all the old fluid out of the torque converter, just draining the from the drain plug will only drain out about 4 quarts or so. Obivoulsy you will never get all 100% of the old oil out even when doing a full flush, but it will be close. What I do is drive the car for about a month or so after the first flush, and then drain it again, this time just from the drain plug, which again drains out about 4 quarts. Then I add more synthetic fluid and check, doing this a few more times after the initial complete flush, ensures that your have 100% Synthetic ATF in the tranny. I cant tell enough times, how what a difference its made in my legacys. My 93 Legacy has 244k original miles on the tranny and it shifts lilke new and so smooth. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. Im just about to do the same thing to my 94 Legacy Turbo wagon, this week. Also use the synthetic gear oil in your differentials, and in your manual tranny, it works wonders. IMO this is one of the best preventative maintenance that you can do, which in turn will save you a ton money down the road. Good Luck, and I wouldnt wait too long to try the Amsoil Synthetic ATF. 91 Legacy L AWD sedan Auto. 93 Legacy L AWD wagon Auto. 94 Legacy L AWD wagon 5-speed 94 Legacy TURBO AWD wagon Auto.
  8. I own a 91 AWD sedan, but I had a binding problem, tranny only had 106k original miles on it, so I replaced with a used one I bought on the net with 55k original miles. If you want these to last and minimize problems and shifting, use Amsoil Synthetic ATF, it works miracles. I also have a 93 AWD wagon with 243k miles and have been using the Amsoil ATF for 4 years, and it shifts as smooth as a babys bottom. I will use nothing else. Also running Amsoil synthetic 75W-90 gear oil in the front and rear differentials. Im also running the synthetic gear oil in my manual tranny on my 94 Wagon, and the shifting is so much smoother than with the conventional oils. Trust me, you wont be dissapointed. Good Luck. 1991 Legacy AWD sedan 1993 Legacy AWD wagon 1994 Legacy AWD wagon 1994 Legacy AWD Turbo Wagon (newest edition)
  9. I have had 93 Legacy AWD Auto tranny for four years, bought it with 171k on it and it shifted awesome. I wanted to keep this way for as long as possible, I had a tranny flush done and have been using Amsoil Synthetic ATF, and its been unbelievable. I can punch the accelerator at 60 MPH and it downshifts perfectly for passing, there is no lag at all. Now my 91 Legacy automatic is a different story. This had the notorious binding problem, and shifted very hard, I finally gave up hope on it, and replaced it with one from another legacy that had 55k original miles. I had this flushed to and added the Amsoil synthetic ATF as well. Its like night and day, no binding first of all, and smooth shifting. I now have a 91 Legacy AWD sedan with a low mileage tranny and engine as well, as I replaced the engine which had a cracked block. Found a 30k mile original Legacy engine out of a Grandpas car that had been totaled. Sweet!!! I also just bought a 94 Legacy Turbo Wagon, with 135k, in mint condition. Installed a new 01 wrx turbo, and a new intercooler on it. A Rare breed indeed. Hope to post some pics. 91 Legacy AWD sedan auto. 93 Legacy AWD wagon auto. 94 Legacy AWD wagon Turbo auto. 94 Legacy AWD wagon 5-speed I Love Subarus!
  10. Hello, I am a new member of this forum, and also just purchased a 1994 Legacy Turbo Wagon, with 135k on it. Auto Tranny. It looks awesome, and super clean in and out. Its white with Black interior. Previous owner had installed a new 2001 wrx turbo, and a new intercooler which is mounted right under the hood scoop in rear engine area. Boost and air/fuel gauges installed too. I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide and what to expect with a turbo legacy, as I have never owned a turbo subaru before. I have 3 other gen. 1 legacys, but this is the only turbo. I was told they are rare. Any preventative maintenance I should do? Timing belt and w/pump were done at 121k. Has original turbo wagon 15" wheels which are starting to peel and flake, but no rust, and it looks fantastic. Muffler looks original and on its way out. Thanks in advance for the info. Dan
