  1. if your strut top bushing is bad it will cause the spring to catch and it makes a clunk whenit is turned far enough to un catch
  2. don't know what the difference is if any but the holes are on the driver side to the front of the crossmember on a rather flat part originally was a manuel had to make a custom bracket for the pump to clear radiator hose
  3. gd I have a lot of respect for you and think that you are usually correct on most things but I have converted my 86 brat to ps and it bolted right up just had to drill some holes for the lines.
  4. does puttin 2.2 heads on a 2.5 block make it an interference motor.
  5. theres a bke collective in duluth lots of tall bikes and wacky contraptions:headbang:
  6. not a direct fit but adapters are available
  7. I am using a ford pump on my 2.2 brat works great no surge tank:Flame:
  8. I have the same trans in my brat same issue only not as bad as you describe I find that if i shift from 4wd high to fwd while the clutch is engaged aswellas backing off the throttle it shifts smoothly
  9. I installed rubber guards on my tie rods (similar to atv's) seems to work well
  10. brown one was rough rusty with exhaust leak looked like an older lady driving. the red one was lifted don't recall if the wheels were black or not looked like this only red
  11. I saw it monday it was the second hatch of the day saw a brown one in duluth they are rare up here any how just curious if it was owned by a board member:banana:
  12. don't feel bad I pulled my fuse for about a month before this board helped me:lol:
  13. I have a strange issue with my 98 outback running lights. They stay on all the time need to pull the fuse even with key off. I looked on all data at work for a location but there is none give for a relay only shows lighting module I assume its a relay that failed in the on position but need to find it to verify.
  14. When I first bought my brat I thought the the funtops were rare turns out the brats w/out them are more rare!
  15. It will be dark by the time I get home but I could try!
  16. I put the radiator from the ej donor car into my brat. 94 leg welded two bolts to the top of the radiator so it aligned with the original top mount holes and added tabs to the bottom only one fan (the smaller one) on the front side of radiator.
  17. JUst did this swap took a 98 outback with a bad motor put in a ej22 that was manufactured in sept 94(car was a 95 legacy wagon that I heard run). everything went well untill I attempted to start it. the ignition timing seems to be off the motor has no egr is there some issue that I am missing. any Ideas would be helpful
  18. just swapped a 2.2 into my 98 outback and I can't remember where the computer is located? is ti under the rear passenger seat? any help would be greatly appreciated:-\
  19. Thanks for the good advice and suggestions I have decided to leave the engine in and concentrate on the front of the motor as what I can see of the flex plate it is dry and clean. Replacing the rear main seal was a suggestion of a mechanic who may have just been trying to drum up business
  20. I am currently trying to pull the engine on a 95 legacy all wheel drive automatic transmission. In the past when removing a automatic transmission I have had to remave the torque converter from the flex plate before removing the engine. is this the case with the ej22 and if so how do you get at the bolts. the access in the bottom of the bell housing is blocked by teh power steering rack
  21. I have an opportunity to get a 95 legacy with major engine issues. I need to know if these wheel hubs will work for a conversion on my 86 brat and if so what do i need from the donor car. I have already done the 5 spd d/r turbo tranny conversion so i have the right axles but since I just replaced the wheel bearings and struts on the front of the brat i was hoping to still use those and replace just the hubs and calipers. same goes for the back the suspension is way different so the only way it would work is if you could use just the hubs and some how mount the calipers on the bearing housing. If anyone has done this or can think of any suggestions please feel free to chime in.
