  1. Exactly what we're going to do tomorrow.. changing it all..hoping it works! I dont know how long since they've been changed.. another reason for doing so..keeping my fingers crossed! As for the trade.. I'm thinking..I'm gonna give it back to my daughter and buy me something brand new!! The dang thing will probably run forever after all the money i've put into it lately..that would be my luck!
  2. I have a 1984 Subaru Turbo 4 Wheel Drive ..2 door..Automatic.. Engine size 1.8 I have received much appreciated help here before when I needed a turbocharger and a fuel pump and I got lucky finding and purchasing them from members here and my Subaru has ran great since!! Unfortunately I find myself having to ask for help again as it seems to be having a unknown problem again? Not sure what happened actually. The other day I ran all over town. We were having a snow storm and the car ran fine. I had stopped and purchased gas in the middle of the day and thats when I noticed the car began to act up. It started jerking and acting like it was going to die and then ran fine. I knew something was wrong but wasnt sure. I took my daughter and granddaughter home.. about another 10 miles. I then headed for home.. I'm about home and the car just shut off..like someone shut off the key..and then would not start..right on top of a bridge. I knew I had just put gas in earlier so it wasnt lack of gas. I tried to restart the car and it would not start at all. It just cranks over until my battery almost goes dead...but it will not start just like before when it was the fuel pump. My daughters boyfriend had just put the fuel pump on in about Aug..the pump was new btw ..anyway..it started right up and has run great until now. *Update* Just found out it is not the fuel pump.. filter.. fuses.. checked plugs getting spark to the distributer cap only..thinking new distributer cap and rotor?? Is there some other things I should be checking out as well?? I also was told you can interchange the fuel pump for this car with a Ford F-150 but I have forgotten what year they said?? I appreciate the input and all the help this site has given me in the past so..once again i'm asking for your help! Thank You Again!!

  5. I have a 1984 Subaru Turbo.. 4 Wheel Drive..fuel injected ..2 door..Automatic.. Engine size 1.8 Anyone out there have a fuel pump for this vehicle or have access to a fuel pump at a parts store at a resonable price??? Unable to find one local for fuel injected for less than $138. They do have one for this year car...for the price of $64..for those in need of one NOT fuel injected. Your Help Is Much Appreciated! Tina
  6. Thanks for the info.. will try that tomorrow and see how that goes. Checked with auto parts here and found the fuel pump to be around $130 - $160..sound right?? Found one for $64 but my subaru is fuel injected and it wasnt the right one unfortunately. Anyone out there have a good one for sale???
  7. He just took off the fuel filter and blew threw it didnt seem to be clogged. When he first took it off it had a lot of pressure and gas flew out of it. He then took off the lines and we started the car to see if any gas came and nothing so he headed for the fuel pump.
  8. I have a 1984 Subaru Turbo 4 Wheel Drive ..2 door..Automatic.. Engine size 1.8 I have received much appreciated help here before when I needed a turbocharger and I got lucky finding and purchasing one from a member here and my Subaru has ran great since!! Unfortunately I find myself having to ask for help again as it seems to be having a fuel pump? or fuel related problem. The other day I ran to the store the car ran fine. I came out it started fine got about a block from the store and it starts acting as if it was running out of gas (like it was starving for gas). It stalled out and then would not start..I knew I had just put gas in the day before but thought possibly maybe it had been syphoned out because of reports its been happening in my neighborhood. So I call my daughter she comes.. but by the time she comes I try to start it again and it starts up kinda shaky at first..then increased to full power so I ran to the nearest gas station. Put in more gas just in case it was out or something. Started up just fine and I thought ok my gas must have been stolen...then I get about a block and it starts acting starved for gas again ..stalls out then would not start at all. Had to be towed home. My daughters boyfriend had checked filters and fuel pump and then put fuel directly into the car with nothing connected.. the filters etc.. it tried to start right up. After checking filters and fuel pump he believes it might be the fuel pump..but when he checked it again it acted like it was working and he could hear it and gas would pump out the line under the car by the fuel pump..but then try again and it wouldnt work. He said the fuel pump acts like it has a short or something. So my question is..is it the fuel pump and should I just go ahead and change the fuel pump or is there some other things I should be checking out as well?? I appreciate the input and all the help this site has given me in the past so here I am again!! Thanks Again!!
  9. I found this web site for Subaru recalls and technical service bulletins. They charge to use it and I havent done it as of yet.. but I too need help with my turbocharger..its in the car but has extra lines were not sure where they go. Here is the address.. and maybe it will help you... http://www.alldata.com/TSB/55/84555202.html
  10. I recently bought a new Turbocharger for my 1984 Subaru Turbo ..4 Wheel Drive ..2 door..Automatic.. Engine size 1.8..IHI Turbo. My old one went out and I was lucky enough to find a new one for sale on here and bought it. The problem is..it is exactly the same as my old one.. but it has 2 lines coming off of it that were put on when there was a recall/upgrade. We have the turbo in the car now.. but are unsure where the 2 extra lines need to be hooked up. There are two lines on the side of the turbo.. on top of each other..one pointing up and one pointing down. Any help with which one goes where would be greatly appreciated as my daughters boyfriend isnt sure what to do now and we have found no information on the change over. Thank You... Tina
